Special Event and Conference Planning

Initiating and organizing major conferences and public events can be a daunting task. So why start from ground zero and leave much of the event planning to chance?

We can take the worry out of planning, organizing, and running events in a polished, professional, and cost-effective fashion. We make it much easier to establish a theme, identify speakers, and develop a winning, engaging conference, symposium, or public education program.

We bring much experience to the formidable challenge of initiating, planning and coordinating national, regional, or local public events. Our Director is widely known for his role in initiating and organizing major professional development conferences, lively public issues forums, dynamic youth conferences, and news-breaking media conferences.

Our Lead Consultant is a seasoned planner of education forums, conferences and webinars. Over the past five years, he has planned and managed national conferences in his capacity as National Coordinator of researchED Canada.  Paul established and chaired a national committee responsible for organizing the first Canadian researchED Conference on November 10-11, 2017 at Trinity College, University of Toronto.

Since 2017, Dr. Bennett has taken an active role in the planning of the regular national conferences of researchED (Peel Region/Ontario 2018, and Vancouver 2019).  In November 2022, Dr. Bennett chaired and organized researchED Canada Halifax 2022, a Symposium staged in-person and livestreamed online across Canada. That conference seeded the idea of researchED in the Maritimes and tackled two fundamental education issues: Student Behaviour and Learning to Read.

Our Director is an experienced educational conference planner and organizer. Since the early 1980s, he’s founded and organized dozens of successful ventures in Ontario, Quebec and Nova Scotia. Among his lasting legacies are the first Ontario Conference of Independent Schools (CIS) ’90 Conference (November 1990), the Ontario Education Reform public forums of the Coalition for Education Reform (1992-94), and the Historica Summer Institute for Canadian Secondary School History Teachers (Montreal, 2001-2003). In January 2007, Paul initiated and chaired the first Parent Public Forum and Professional Development Day program of the Atlantic Conference of Independent Schools (ACIS) Professional Development Conference (Halifax, NS).

Public policy forums are Paul’s forte and he has initiated many, and presented at most of them, over the years.  One of the more recent was the lively Public Forum on “Re-engineering Education,” cosponsored with AIMS, at Halifax Central Library in March of 2018. Working with the MacEachen Institute for Public Policy at Dalhousie University, Dr. Bennett planned and organized the October 14, 2020 Policy Panel Discussion focused on the “U.S. Presidential Election: What’s at Stake for Canada?”  Under the auspices of the Canadian International Council (Halifax Branch), he co-chaired and planned the joint-virtual panel program with ACIC Atlantic Canada on “The Pandemic and the World’s Children’ held February 9, 2021.

Since the recent pandemic, Schoolhouse Institute has branched out to organize and convene Zoom Meetings, Webinars, and online conferences in 2020 and continued throughout 2022.

You can count upon Schoolhouse Consulting to make your special public event happen – in real time or on the web!
